David Glasser Settles $1 Million Loan Lawsuit Dramatically

In a notable turn of events, “Yellowstone” producer David Glasser was recently involved in a legal dispute over a $1 million loan, only to resolve the issue by settling the debt swiftly. The situation stems from longstanding financial ties with fellow producer Bob Yari and highlights the complexities of personal and professional relationships in Hollywood.

Background and Financial Dispute

David Glasser, recognized for his successful post-Weinstein career, including the production of “Yellowstone” and several spinoffs, faced financial challenges despite his industry achievements. Bob Yari, known for producing films like “Crash,” filed a lawsuit against Glasser for nearly $1 million, alleging an unpaid personal debt.

The origin of the dispute dates back to January 2022, when Yari loaned Glasser $1.5 million at a 6% annual interest rate, with an agreement for full repayment within a year. However, by April 2024, the loan had not been repaid, growing to $1.7 million.

Agreement and Resolution

To address the mounting debt, Glasser and Yari entered a forbearance arrangement requiring immediate and monthly payments to reduce the balance. Despite initial adherence to the plan, Glasser failed to pay the remaining amount on the maturity date, offering a partial payment instead.

According to the lawsuit, after accounting for received payments, a principal sum of $952,144, accruing daily interest, remained unpaid. Yari’s lawyer, Behzad Nahai, noted a minor discrepancy in this amount due to an overlooked small payment.

Legal and Professional Implications

The conflict was further complicated by the unsecured nature of the loan, initially intended to be backed by Glasser’s properties in Lake Arrowhead and Indio. The absence of signed deeds left both parties in a precarious financial position.

Within 24 hours of the lawsuit surfacing and media inquiries made, Glasser settled the debt. “The matter has been resolved,” confirmed Nahai, marking a swift end to the legal proceedings.

Industry Impact and Future Ventures

Bob Yari recently established Magenta Light Studios and released “Bride Hard,” featuring Rebel Wilson, while also pursuing new ventures with other entertainment companies. Meanwhile, David Glasser continues to serve as CEO of 101 Studios, maintaining a strong collaboration with Taylor Sheridan on projects like “Yellowstone” and new series such as “Tulsa King.”

In a statement, 101 Studios acknowledged the resolution of the debt, appreciating Yari’s early support but expressing disappointment over the lawsuit. Despite the hiccup, both producers look to advance their respective creative endeavors.
