The actress and comedian appeared via video at the Fayette County court, expressing her acceptance of responsibility for an incident from January 2022, where a concerned individual reported a driver asleep at a traffic light.

During the hearing, captured in video obtained by The Associated Press, Haddish beamed as the judge announced that all other charges against her would be dropped, following recommendations from prosecutors. The court officially sentenced Haddish to 12 months of probation and 24 hours in jail; however, she received credit for time already served. Her probation terms require her to abstain from drugs and alcohol, undergo testing, complete 40 hours of community service, attend a substance abuse evaluation, and finish a DUI counseling program.

Haddish’s initial arrest occurred in January 2022 when she was stopped while driving a white Ford Explorer south of Atlanta. The 911 caller had reported seeing someone passed out in the driver’s seat, with their foot on the brake. On November 2023, she faced another arrest in Beverly Hills on suspicion of DUI after police responded to reports of a person blocking traffic and possibly slumped over the steering wheel. In that instance, officers took Haddish into custody after encountering her vehicle.

Best known for her roles in the hit film Girls Trip and the Disney comedy Haunted Mansion, Haddish had recently participated in the Laugh Factory’s 43rd annual free Thanksgiving feast and party.
