Simon Kirke Reveals Potential for Bad Company in Rock Hall

Bad Company’s Simon Kirke Shares Chances of Rock Hall Performance

This November, Bad Company will be celebrated with an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, a recognition long overdue for the influential band. Simon Kirke, the band’s drummer, has recently discussed the likelihood of them performing at the ceremony. He expresses optimism, suggesting that the chances of Bad Company taking the stage are quite promising. As the remaining members consider this historic moment, Kirke’s insights shed light on what fans can expect during this significant event.

Performance Possibilities at the Ceremony

With the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction approaching, Simon Kirke has indicated that there is a “very good” chance that Bad Company will perform. However, the specifics remain to be decided. “I don’t know. I know that we’ve been approached to play a couple of songs,” Kirke shared in a recent conversation with Defenders of the Faith. He further noted, “I’ve spoken with Paul. Paul’s health, as you know, is not good, but I think… I’m crossing my fingers that we will be able to play at least one song. I don’t know what it is yet, and I don’t even know who’s gonna be inducting us yet.”

A House Band Prepares for Bad Company

Kirke also mentioned that a house band is preparing a selection of Bad Company songs “just in case” the band is unable to perform due to circumstances. His optimism remains, reiterating, “I think the odds of us performing are very good.”

The Long Road to Induction

Bad Company, formed in 1973, has been eligible for the Rock Hall for over two decades. The current nomination marks their first recognition in this prestigious venue. “We influenced a couple of generations of bands, so it’s about time, and we’re very happy,” Kirke remarked. He added a personal note, expressing joy that Mick Ralphs, the band’s guitarist who passed away a few months ago, learned about the induction weeks before his death. “That made us very, very happy indeed,” Kirke reflected.

Paul Rodgers’ Excitement

Frontman Paul Rodgers shares Kirke’s enthusiasm for the upcoming event. In an April interview with Billboard, he stated, “It is pretty amazing and very cool to be part of an iconic American institution that celebrates music, musicians, and sometimes unsung heroes behind the scenes. I know that our fans, friends, and some media have wanted this for a long time, so they will be pleased at last.” The sense of achievement and celebration permeates the approach they have toward this induction.

Anticipating the Ceremony

The induction ceremony promises to be a memorable occasion, not only celebrating Bad Company’s legacy but also showcasing the obstacles and triumphs of rock music history. With Simon Kirke sharing the chances of a performance, fans are eagerly awaiting November 8, when this legacy will be recognized on one of music’s biggest stages.

As Bad Company steps forward into this new chapter, the anticipation continues to build surrounding their potential performance, further solidifying their place in rock history.
