Nicolas Cage Faces Uncertainty After Sinkhole-Related Home Damage

Nicolas Cage has recently shed light on his current living situation following significant damage to his Malibu mansion, which is valued at $10.5 million. The damage was caused by a massive sinkhole that opened up on September 8, prompting the actor to temporarily reside in hotels.

Details of the Sinkhole Incident

The sinkhole, which reached a depth of approximately 25 feet and measured 30 by 60 feet, affected not only Cage’s property but also led to the evacuation of 31 homes in the vicinity. This collapse, which consumed part of Cage’s driveway and damaged his deck, restricted access for residents and emergency services. Malibu officials declared a local emergency due to the situation, raising concerns about potential gas leaks and the possibility of worsening conditions from high tides and rain associated with Hurricane Marie. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Cage’s Halloween Plans

While attending a panel at Los Angeles Comic Con on Saturday, Cage shared his unconventional Halloween plans, humorously stating, “I’m currently a little bit homeless. Something happened to my house in Malibu, so I’m just sort of living in hotels, so I don’t have normal trick-or-treaters I would like to enjoy tonight.” Despite the circumstances, Cage intends to celebrate the holiday with his 4-year-old daughter, August Francesca Coppola Cage.

“I’ll take my daughter out trick-or-treating somewhere in Santa Monica, but I am going to watch a movie where the director was actually nominated for worst director at the Razzies — called The Shining,” Cage elaborated. “He directed the hell out of that movie. I’m going to watch that tonight. After I put my daughter to bed, I’m going to put on The Shining.”
