New YouTube Comedy 'Fly Me to the Earth' From 'Obsession' Creators

The creative duo behind the microbudget sensation “Milk & Serial,” Curry Barker and Cooper Tomlinson, are making headlines again with their latest comedic venture, “Fly Me to the Earth.” This new project, set to premiere on the That’s a Bad Idea YouTube channel, promises to be a hilarious addition to their repertoire, blending unique storytelling with an impressive comedic cast.

Barker and Tomlinson have already made waves in Hollywood with their unexpected hit “Milk & Serial,” a low-budget horror gem that captivated 2.1 million viewers. Barker’s subsequent project, “Obsession,” further cemented his reputation, selling for $14 million to Focus Features after its successful debut at the Toronto Film Festival. Their innovative approach to filmmaking continues with “Fly Me to the Earth,” showcasing their commitment to pushing creative boundaries.

“Fly Me to the Earth” is coproduced by Barker and Tomlinson and directed by Chris Reinacher. This comedy dives into a “heightened comedic universe” and boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Patrick Warburton of “Family Guy,” Alexis Knapp from “Pitch Perfect,” and Efren Ramirez of “Napoleon Dynamite” fame. The film’s eclectic lineup also features Ryan O’Flanagan, Chris Reinacher, and Will Angus, adding to the project’s comedic potential.

The plot centers around a group of friends seeking a life-changing adventure beyond Earth’s atmosphere. Scraping together their resources for a one-way ticket to lunar living, their grand cosmic dreams soon encounter humorous mishaps. The filmmakers describe it as an exploration of ordinary individuals chasing extraordinary dreams, with earthly challenges providing comedic contrast.

Actor-producer Tanner Beard, known for “Landman,” expressed excitement about the project, stating, “Get ready to see Cooper, Curry and a ton of cameos from some talented and recognizable faces in this side-splitting story about friends saving up all their money to start a bigger, better, and exciting new life on the moon!”

The much-anticipated “Fly Me to the Earth” will premiere exclusively on the That’s a Bad Idea YouTube channel at 4 p.m. PT this Friday, setting the stage for another potential hit from these visionary filmmakers.
