The Lego Group has made a significant move in expanding its presence in the entertainment industry by appointing Kelsey Gray Sherman as its first head of celebrity talent and brand partnerships. This new role, part of the Entertainment, Partnerships & Content division, underscores Lego’s commitment to deepening its engagement with culture and entertainment.
Sherman’s Expertise and Vision
Kelsey Gray Sherman arrives at Lego from her previous role as vice president of the Entertainment Marketing & Advisory group at WME. Based in Los Angeles, she will report directly to Jill Wilfert, Lego’s senior vice president of Entertainment, Partnerships & Content and will be integral to the division’s leadership team. Her extensive network within the talent and entertainment communities positions her well to navigate and cultivate partnerships that extend beyond traditional licensing agreements.
Balancing Innovation with Authenticity
Jill Wilfert expressed confidence in Sherman’s capabilities, stating, “Kelsey brings deep relationships across the talent and entertainment communities, along with a strong understanding of the Lego brand. She knows how to bring together the right talent, partners, and ideas in ways that feel fresh and authentic.” According to Wilfert, Sherman’s experience and instincts will be critical as Lego continues to innovate within the entertainment space.
Building on Lego’s Cultural Legacy
Sherman herself echoed this sentiment, highlighting her long-standing relationship with the Lego Group: “Having worked closely with the Lego Group for many years, I’ve seen first-hand its unique ability to bring together entertainment, experiences, and culture. I’m excited to build on that strength through ambitious, distinctive partnerships with exceptional talent and brands.” She aims to open new avenues for creativity and play that resonate with audiences worldwide.
Lego’s Established Presence in Entertainment
Lego’s history in entertainment is rich and varied, with partnerships that span decades. The company’s collaboration with the “Star Wars” franchise is notable, encompassing a range of products including toy sets, television shows, and even a successful video game. Lego movies have garnered critical and commercial success, and the company recently partnered with Pharrell Williams in 2024 for an innovative biopic animated entirely with Lego bricks.
