In a tantalizing preview of his upcoming musical journey, Khalid has unveiled his latest single, “In Plain Sight,” sparking anticipation for his forthcoming album, After the Sun Goes Down. This eagerly awaited LP, set for release on October 10, promises to explore themes of love and self-discovery, inviting fans to join Khalid on his evolving artistic path.
Khalid has shared an infectious new single, “In Plain Sight.” The song comes ahead of his next album, After the Sun Goes Down, dropping October 10 via Right Hand Music Group/RCA Records.
According to a press release, this new single and album delve into “themes of love, self-discovery, openness, and a refreshed sense of freedom.” The dynamic music video for “In Plain Sight,” directed by 91 Rules, vividly captures these themes as Khalid emerges from a glass cage, symbolizing liberation and self-expression.
“This chapter is about taking my power back, living in my truth, and being able to express myself freely,” Khalid stated. “I’m excited for my fans to experience this new era with me, not just musically, but personally.”
Exploring New Personal Ground
After the Sun Goes Down marks Khalid’s fourth album and represents his first venture since last year’s Sincere. This release follows his public coming out in November, shared through a series of posts on X. “I got outted and the world still continues to turn,” he expressed. “Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality, it ain’t nobody’s business! But I am okay with me 🖤.”
Khalid’s previous album, Sincere, described as a “combination of life experiences,” made its mark last summer. It featured the heartfelt track “Adore U,” produced by Digi and Justin Lucas, alongside “Please Don’t Fall in Love With Me.” Unlike the five-year gap between his second album, 2019’s Free Spirit, and Sincere, After the Sun Goes Down arrives much sooner, signaling a fresh creative momentum for Khalid.
While further details about the album’s track list remain under wraps, fans are eagerly speculating about what Khalid will bring to the table in this new phase of his career.
