Keanu Reeves made a noteworthy appearance on The Tonight Show as he brought his band Dogstar to perform their anthemic track “Joy.” The performance showcased a moody rendition of the song, which is featured on their 2026 album, All in Now.
Dogstar’s Triumphant Return
Released in May, All in Now marked Dogstar’s second LP since the band reformed in 2023 after a two-decade hiatus. The group, which includes Reeves alongside Bret Domrose and Robert Mailhouse, reunited for their first performances since 2002, leading to the release of Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, their first album of new material since 2000’s Happy Ending.
The Creative Process Renewed
While he remains committed to his acting career, Reeves expressed his enthusiasm for reuniting with his Dogstar bandmates in the studio, working alongside producer Nick Launay. “We couldn’t fucking wait,” he shared in a statement leading up to the album’s release. “Personally, I loved it all. For me, the attitude was like, ‘Let’s work hard and let’s GO.’”
Reeves elaborated on the creative process during a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, highlighting the joy of collaborative music-making. “You get being together, you get the mixing board, you get the loud headphones, you get your producer there looking at you — listening to you,” he noted. “It’s not carved up in sections — you’re sharing an experience.”
On Tour and Recent Projects
Currently, Dogstar is on a North American tour in support of their new album. The tour kicked off recently and will continue through September 3, closing in Salt Lake City. Their next show is scheduled for tonight in Atlantic City.
In addition to his music career, Reeves has been active on the silver screen. Last year, he portrayed an angel in Good Fortune, sharing the screen with Seth Rogen and Aziz Ansari. Earlier this year, he featured in Jonah Hill’s comedy film Outcome and has recently filmed Ruben Östlund’s upcoming satire, The Entertainment System Is Down, which is awaiting a release date.
