Jhayco Faces Arrest Over Cocaine After Suspicious White Powder

Jhayco, a well-known reggaeton artist, has recently been in the headlines after an arrest for cocaine possession. This incident unfolded when a deputy reportedly noticed “white powder on his nose.” The arrest has garnered significant media attention, spotlighting the challenges celebrities face in the limelight. This article delves into the details surrounding Jhayco’s arrest and its implications for the music industry.

The Arrest Details

Early Tuesday morning, Jhayco, whose real name is Jesus Manuel Nieves Cortes, was pulled over by the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred on Southwest 8th Street when the reggaeton star was spotted driving a red two-door Corvette at a puzzlingly slow speed of 5 miles per hour. The arrest affidavit reveals that it took him over a minute to continue driving from a complete stop, prompting officers to intervene.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers observed what appeared to be “white powder on his nose” and his pants. There was also a noticeable “strong odor” of cannabis emanating from the car. The situation further escalated when Jhayco reportedly could not produce a driver’s license.

Substance Discovery and Statements

During the search, deputies found two pouches of cannabis, each containing seven grams, along with clear baggies holding two grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine in Jhayco’s pockets. When confronted about the suspected cocaine, Jhayco reportedly claimed, “it was not cocaine, it was [tusi],” referring to a drug cocktail that might include ketamine, MDMA, opioids, and other substances.

Legal Proceedings and Reactions

According to Miami-Dade jail records, Jhayco has since posted a $3,000 bond—$2,500 for cocaine possession and $500 for possession of cannabis under 20 grams. He was officially booked early Tuesday morning. Despite the charges, neither Jhayco nor his representatives have provided any public comment or response to inquiries from media outlets like Rolling Stone.

Impact on Upcoming Performances and Career

This arrest comes at a critical time for Jhayco, who is scheduled to perform at the Dale MIXX festival in Monterrey. His recent album, Le Clique: Vida Rockstar (X), released in September 2024, features tracks such as “Mami Chula” with Quevedo, “Holanda,” and “Passoa.” As fans await further developments, the incident poses a potential challenge to his upcoming commitments and professional reputation.

Jhayco’s arrest for cocaine possession highlights the ongoing struggles public figures face with substance issues, casting a shadow on both personal and professional fronts. As the story evolves, it remains to be seen how this incident will affect the reggaeton singer’s career trajectory and public perception.
