David Byrne Rocks Orange Tracksuits with 'What Is The Reason' on 'Fallon'

David Byrne made a vibrant appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, dazzling audiences with more than just his music. As he delivered a lively performance of his latest single, “What Is The Reason for It?”, the artist was accompanied by a sea of orange tracksuits, leaving a lasting visual impression. This performance is part of the buzz surrounding Byrne’s forthcoming album, Who Is the Sky?, and fans are eagerly anticipating its release.

Iconic Performance at Rockefeller Plaza

David Byrne traded in his iconic big suit for something more colorful on the The Tonight Show—an orange tracksuit. This bold choice accompanied an intimate performance at Rough Trade NYC in Rockefeller Plaza, where the former Talking Heads frontman captivated the audience with his new single, “What Is The Reason for It?”. As Byrne sang the catchy chorus, the stage was filled with energy, thanks in part to his band and backup singers donning identical outfits.

A Sneak Peek at Who Is the Sky?

Set for release on Friday, Who Is the Sky? promises a fresh sonic experience for fans. The album’s track “What Is The Reason for It?” is the fifth piece of the collection, featuring contributions from acclaimed artists like Hayley Williams of Paramore. Produced by Kid Harpoon, known for collaborations with stars like Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus, the album marks a new creative chapter following Byrne’s 2018 project, American Utopia. Other notable contributors include St. Vincent and Tom Skinner from the Smile.

A Journey Beyond the Self

Describing the new record, Byrne shared that it’s “a chance to be the mythical creature we all harbor inside. A chance to step into another reality. A chance to transcend and escape from the prison of our ‘selves.’” This introspective approach hints at the immersive and transformative experience the album aims to provide.

Personal Revelations and Milestones

During his chat with Fallon, Byrne shared insights about his latest project, noting that although he warned producer Kid Harpoon about the unique nature of his tracks, Harpoon embraced the challenge. In addition to his musical ventures, Byrne recently announced his engagement to Mala Gaonkar and mentioned that, along with the release of his album, he plans to marry this week. To celebrate, he curated a playlist of instrumental songs for his wedding dinner, emphasizing Latin music with tracks like “Pa Japón” by El Alfa and “Perfidia” by Café Tacvba.
