Dallas Police Arrest BigXthaPlug Right After Album Release

In a surprising turn of events, Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug found himself facing legal troubles just as his latest album, I Hope You’re Happy, made its debut. The arrest came in the early hours following the album’s release, adding an unexpected twist to what should have been a celebratory occasion for the artist known for merging hip-hop with country influences.

BigXthaPlug’s Arrest in Dallas

Back in his hometown of Dallas, BigXthaPlug, born Xavier Landum, was celebrating the release of his third studio album with a party. Unfortunately, the festivities were short-lived. At 2:20 a.m. on Friday, he was arrested and charged with marijuana possession (less than two ounces) and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to Dallas County Jail records reviewed by People. Representatives for BigXthaPlug did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Rolling Stone.

Success Leading Up to the Arrest

I Hope You’re Happy follows a series of major achievements for BigXthaPlug. Known for his soul-sampling style, he gained widespread recognition with the platinum-selling album Take Care. More recently, he reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart with “All the Way,” a collaboration with Bailey Zimmerman. I Hope You’re Happy features prominent artists like Luke Combs, Darius Rucker, Shaboozey, Thomas Rhett, and Ella Langley. The music video for “Box Me Up,” his collaboration with Jelly Roll, premiered on the same day as his arrest.

The Heart Behind the Album

Speaking about I Hope You’re Happy, BigXthaPlug expressed the personal nature of the album. “This album’s my heart, my story — the love, the loss, the heartbreak, the grind,” he said in a press release. “I wanted people to feel it all with me, the highs, the lows, the real life that shapes you. I Hope You’re Happy is me mixing my urban roots with that country soul, tellin’ my story straight up, just me.”

Motivation and Future Aspirations

BigXthaPlug has often spoken about his motivation to succeed in order to provide for his two children. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he mentioned, “I got to make it to where when my kids my age, they don’t want for anything.” His dedication to his craft is evident in his determination to create music that resonates deeply with his audience.

As the details of his arrest unfold, fans remain eager to see how BigXthaPlug navigates these new challenges while continuing to share his unique musical journey.
