Austin Butler recently shed light on his viral moment dancing awkwardly at a Bad Bunny concert, attributing the offbeat moves to an edible. This revelation adds a humorous twist to the episode, which captured the internet’s attention. The actor opened up about his experience during a chat with Jimmy Fallon, providing an amusing explanation and insight into the night.
The Concert Experience
During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Austin Butler recounted his visit to Bad Bunny’s electrifying show in Puerto Rico, part of the “No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí” residency. Arriving with high expectations, Butler had lunch with Bad Bunny, also known as Benito, who hinted at the cultural significance of the event. “It’s insane! They love him, and to see what he means to Puerto Rican culture,” Butler remarked.
The Edible Episode
Butler explained that an edible was offered to him right before the concert, which seemed like a good idea at the time. However, the setting turned out to be more involved than he expected, placing him on a stage-like platform—a “casita”—as Bad Bunny performed. “The edible is working,’ Butler admitted, reflecting on the unexpected spotlight.
An Inner Conflict
Despite his profession, Butler confessed that he doesn’t relish being the center of attention. “I don’t even like people singing Happy Birthday to me,” he joked. While his brain was torn between admiration for Bad Bunny and self-consciousness about drawing attention, his body attempted to sway with the music without stealing the show.
“I ended up just swaying my hips while crossing my arms,” Butler explained, describing his awkward dance style that captivated social media. He was reminded of past viral moments, like Ben Affleck’s “Sad Affleck” meme, cautious not to replicate that or become overly animated.
Upcoming Collaboration
Beyond the concert antics, Butler and Bad Bunny will soon appear together in Darren Aronofsky’s new film, Caught Stealing, set to hit theaters on Aug. 29. This collaboration promises more captivating moments, although hopefully free from unexpected dance moves influenced by edibles.
