Addison Rae recently opened up about her unique experience of performing alongside Lana Del Rey, highlighting how she deeply resonates with Del Rey’s dedication to perfection. Sharing this connection while opening for the iconic artist has marked a significant milestone in Rae’s burgeoning music career. Her reflections not only underscore the influence of such collaborations but also reveal how artistic perfectionism can drive creativity and excellence.
During an engaging live interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Rae expressed her excitement and admiration for Lana Del Rey. Performing at Del Rey’s Wembley shows in early July was a dream come true for Rae, who holds Del Rey in high regard as one of the most remarkable artists of this era.
Sharing the Stage with a Musical Icon
“It was so fun. Lana is one of the greatest artists of our generation, honestly, of our lifetime,” Rae shared with exuberance. Her words reflected a genuine appreciation for Del Rey’s artistry and her welcoming nature. “I think she’s so just incredible, and so kind, and sweet, and so helpful and open,” Rae continued, capturing the essence of Del Rey’s mentorship.
Rae was particularly inspired by Del Rey’s perfectionism, a trait she also sees in herself. “She’s such a perfectionist, which is so inspiring to watch, because I’m a perfectionist as well, and she never lets that go away. It’s really nice to see someone who’s constantly wanting everything to be perfect for everyone to enjoy,” Rae remarked, emphasizing the shared commitment to delivering flawless performances.
A Memorable Performance
In addition to performing her own songs from her debut album Addison, Rae had the opportunity to join Del Rey onstage for a duet of “Diet Pepsi” during both nights of the tour stop. This collaboration underscored the mutual respect between the two artists and added a memorable highlight to Rae’s early career.
Looking Ahead to New Opportunities
Rae also celebrated Del Rey in her album, mentioning her in “Money Is Everything” with the line, “Wanna roll one with Lana, get high with Gaga.” This homage, coupled with Rae’s upcoming sold-out headlining tour, demonstrates her growing influence in the music world. Set to begin in Ireland and extend to the United States starting in late September, Rae’s tour promises an exciting phase in her artistic journey.
As she prepares to take her music on the road, Rae shared, “I’ve been having a lot of fun. I’m excited. I’m nervous. It’s gonna be so wild. I got a nice little taste of it a few times with doing the Box shows and then obviously I got to open up for Lana, so that was really fun. This is such a different experience because it’ll be everyone coming to listen to just my album and a few other songs.”
Opening for an artist like Lana Del Rey has allowed Addison Rae to explore new dimensions of her musical capabilities, and she remains poised and enthusiastic about what lies ahead. Her story exemplifies how powerful influences and shared artistic values can shape a performer’s path.
