Zoë Kravitz recently shared an amusing yet nerve-wracking story about nearly losing her mom’s pet snake, Orpheus, at Taylor Swift’s house. As a guest in Swift’s home during the Los Angeles wildfires, Kravitz recounted her panicked attempts to rescue the snake, ultimately leading to some unexpected bathroom renovations. This tale of mishap and hospitality reveals how two celebrities managed to handle an unusual predicament.
A Snake in Taylor Swift’s House
During a visit to Late Night With Seth Meyers, Zoë Kravitz recounted the dramatic incident. She and her mother, Lisa Bonet, had sought refuge at Taylor Swift’s home due to the wildfires threatening their Los Angeles residences. “She was kind enough to let me stay at her house,” Kravitz explained, adding that her mother brought her pet snake along for the stay.
Staying in Swift’s beautifully preserved 1930s house was going smoothly until Kravitz’s departure day. “I was kind of packing up my things,” Kravitz shared, aiming to be a considerate guest. But an unexpected call from her mother changed everything.
Panic in the Bathroom
“I answered the phone and she goes, ‘Hi!’” Kravitz recalled, noting the nervous tone in her mother’s voice. Upon reaching the upstairs bathroom, she discovered Orpheus had slithered into a hole in the corner. Seth Meyers humorously pointed out, “But that’s a design flaw. That’s on Taylor.”
As the snake moved further into the wall, Kravitz admitted, “I started to panic.” Her mother held onto the snake’s tail while Kravitz fretted. “It’s like that scene in Jurassic Park,” she compared. Desperate measures were needed, prompting the house manager to get a crowbar to retrieve Orpheus, resulting in significant damage to Swift’s bathroom.
Rescue and Reparations
Despite the chaos, the snake was eventually saved. “We completely destroyed Taylor’s bathroom,” Kravitz admitted. Faced with her predicament, she decided it was better to fix the damage first and then inform Swift. When Kravitz finally spoke to Swift, she was met with a nonchalant acknowledgment, “Is it the fact that you almost lost a snake in our house and destroyed my bathroom?”
The incident left Meyers joking that Orpheus might inspire a few new songs. While snake-themed tracks are not expected, Swift did recently announce her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl. As this wild story demonstrates, sometimes even superstars face unexpected guests—and challenges—beneath their own roofs.
