Zach Bryan has officially released his new EP, Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs Tour, which features the much-anticipated duet, “Lies,” alongside pop icon Lana Del Rey.
Delicate Harmonies and Captivating Production
The track opens with an elegant piano melody complemented by a sparkling string arrangement. Bryan delivers the first verse, setting a reflective tone, before Del Rey’s laughter ring softly in the background, cueing her entry for a later verse. As they intertwine their voices in harmony, the song unfolds beautifully. The entirety of the EP, including “Lies,” was recorded at Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville, produced collaboratively by Bryan, Jamie McLaughlin, and Eddie Spear.
The Story Behind the Collaboration
Del Rey teased the collaboration on her Instagram last month, playfully captioning her post, “Whale, we finally got our song done. And that’s no lie,” hinting at the song’s title. Known for his successful collaborations, Bryan has previously worked with music legends such as Bruce Springsteen and Kacey Musgraves. His recent duet with Musgraves, “I Remember Everything,” achieved notable acclaim, earning two Grammy nominations and reaching Number One on the Billboard Hot 100, marking a milestone for both artists.
Upcoming Tour Highlights
The Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs Tour also features the track “Plainsman” in collaboration with the Turnpike Troubadours. This EP comes shortly after Bryan’s extensive 25-track album, With Heaven on Top, released earlier this year. In addition to this, Bryan has announced an ambitious 23-date stadium tour scheduled for next year, covering North America and Australia, with guests including the legendary John Fogerty and emerging talent Emma Ogier on select dates.
What’s Next for Lana Del Rey?
Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey’s fans are eagerly awaiting her upcoming album, Stove, which serves as the follow-up to her 2023 release, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Originally set for a May 2025 release, Del Rey has since postponed it. In the meantime, she unveiled the single “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” and hinted that Stove will be accompanied by a “beautiful secondary album.”
Del Rey expressed her gratitude to fans in a heartfelt message, stating, “Thank you for waiting. It certainly is two of my most beautiful pieces of work, rooted in what I thought would be made out of growth and joy, but was peppered with a secondary compilation of songs that sprouted from doubt, hopefulness, and the understanding that new beginnings truly mean starting completely fresh and over. When life decides to send you down another river, it’s really not your choice, and it’s truly an adventure of its own.”
