The Playmaker has officially stepped in as the international sales agent for the heartwarming family film “Barry & Me.” The much-anticipated movie, which explores a tale of friendship and courage, is set to make its pre-sales debut at the American Film Market (AFM) in Los Angeles this November.
An Epic Tale of Friendship
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of a snowy mountain pass, “Barry & Me” tells the story of a boy who becomes inseparable from a St. Bernard puppy. As external forces threaten to separate them, the boy risks it all to maintain their unique bond. This tale promises to capture the hearts of audiences worldwide.
Inspired by Swiss Legend
Directed by renowned German filmmaker Markus Welter, the film is inspired by the storied life of a legendary barrel-wearing St. Bernard. Known for rescuing those trapped in avalanches during the 1800s, this canine’s legacy forms the foundation of the film, focusing on his poignant friendship with Georg, a 12-year-old boy. Together, they embark on thrilling adventures in the Swiss Alps.
A Collaborative Effort
“Barry & Me” is a Swiss-German co-production involving Atlantis Pictures and MMC Zodiac. It has garnered support from numerous organizations, including Zürcher Filmstiftung, Deutscher Filmförderungfonds, and several film commissions. The film is slated to hit Swiss cinemas in January and Germany in March 2026, distributed by Wild Bunch and Ascot Elite, respectively.
