The Neighbourhood Returns: Teasing Fresh Era Post-Hiatus and Changes

The Neighbourhood has made an exciting announcement, delighting fans by revealing their return after a three-year hiatus. The band, including drummer Brandon Fried, teased a “next chapter” following his previously controversial exit. The news has sparked anticipation among followers eager for fresh music and updates from the group.

The Neighbourhood’s Return After Hiatus

In an unexpected move, The Neighbourhood shared a glimpse of their comeback through an Instagram Story. The group, featuring vocalist Jesse Rutherford alongside original members Zachary Abels, Jeremiah Freedman, and Michael Margott, confirmed their reunion in November 2024 after stepping away in 2021. This reunion signals a significant moment for fans who have awaited their return.

The Neighbourhood expressed, “In November 2021, after 10 years together, we went on an indefinite hiatus.” They pointed out the personal challenges that prompted the break, including navigating life outside the music sphere, relationships, and individual growth.

Brandon Fried’s Return to the Lineup

The announcement included the return of drummer Brandon Fried, previously dismissed due to allegations of misconduct. Maria Zardoya of the Marías accused Fried of inappropriate behavior in late 2022, leading to his departure. The band acted promptly in response, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining a respectful environment.

Fried has since acknowledged his actions, attributing them to substance abuse issues and pledging to seek necessary help. The Neighbourhood conveyed gratitude to those who raised concerns, stating, “Your courage helped us get our friend the support he needed.”

Progress and New Beginnings

The band expressed pride in Fried’s personal growth, highlighting the importance of their long-standing relationship. “We are proud of Brandon, the changes he has made, and the progress he continues to make,” they shared, underlining the collective impact of individual struggles on the group dynamic.

Anticipation for the Next Chapter

The Neighbourhood confirmed they reunited in the studio in November 2024, sparking excitement about upcoming projects. With a heartfelt message to supporters, they wrote, “Thank you to everyone who kept the music alive while we were away.” The band’s last album, “Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones,” was released in September 2020, providing a foundation for their future endeavors.

As they prepare to unveil their next chapter, both the band and their fans are eagerly awaiting the continuation of their musical journey.
