The journey of ‘RHOBH’ star Teddi Mellencamp has taken a significant turn as she reflects on her experience one year after undergoing brain surgery following a cancer diagnosis. This heartfelt reflection not only highlights her struggles but also serves as an inspiration for many facing similar challenges. In this article, we’ll explore her journey, the impact of her surgery, and how she has emerged with gratitude and strength.
Facing a Cancer Diagnosis
Teddi Mellencamp candidly shared her cancer journey on social media, marking one year since her hospitalization for emergency brain surgery. The former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star posted an image showing electrodes placed on her head prior to a brain scan. Just after revealing her diagnosis in February 2025, Mellencamp, 44, shaved her head in preparation for the surgery to remove tumors, which posed a serious threat to her health.
A Year of Fear and Gratitude
Reflecting on her diagnosis, Teddi stated, “A year ago today I went into the ER thinking I had migraines and within 24 hours was having surgery on the plum-sized stage 4 tumors on my brain.” While she expressed anxiety surrounding this anniversary, her message was also filled with deep gratitude. “Gratitude for the doctors and nurses who took care of me, gratitude for my family and friends for supporting me, and gratitude for all the love that you have poured into me.” She urged her followers to “trust your instincts” and prioritize their health by getting checked regularly.
The Progress and Challenges of Recovery
Teddi first announced her stage 2 melanoma diagnosis in March 2022, which rapidly advanced to stage 4, with the cancer spreading to her brain and lungs. After her surgery to remove the tumors, doctors discovered additional growths that needed attention. Despite the hurdles, a subsequent scan indicated that her tumors were decreasing in size, giving her a glimmer of hope.
One of the notable challenges during her cancer battle was her speech clarity, which interfered significantly with her daily life. However, her recent participation on “The Masked Singer” played a crucial role in her recovery. “The Masked Singer has done so much for me because leading up to it, I had been really, really sick,” she explained. This platform not only allowed her to perform but also helped her regain confidence, noting, “I couldn’t write, like my hands were shaking so bad that I couldn’t write. Now my hands don’t shake at all.” Teddi emphasized the importance of recognizing progress, no matter how small it may appear.
A Voice for Health Advocacy
Now approaching five years of hosting her podcast, “Two T’s in a Pod,” alongside fellow “Housewives” alum Tamra Judge, Teddi Mellencamp uses her platform to advocate for health awareness. She remarked on the meaningful connections she has made through her experiences, explaining, “I’ve learned so much from other people on the Internet.” Mellencamp encourages her audience by sharing stories of individuals who have sought medical advice based on her own journey. “I want to share with as many people as possible because you have to be your own health advocate,” she stated, highlighting the significance of proactive health measures.
The resilience and tenacity demonstrated by ‘RHOBH’ star Teddi Mellencamp serve as a powerful reminder of the strength found within personal battles. Her story continues to inspire many, reminding them of the importance of early detection and self-advocacy in health journeys.
