Sophie Turner, known for her iconic role in Game of Thrones, has recently opened up about her return to the U.K. following her split from Joe Jonas. While she expresses happiness in being back home, she admits there’s one aspect of America that she genuinely misses.
Missing the Sunshine
In an interview with The Sunday Morning Herald published on August 9, Turner stated, “No, I don’t miss living in America. I do miss the sun, but that’s it.” Having relocated back to the U.K. in 2023, the 30-year-old actress has been enjoying the comforts of her homeland, such as “sarcasm, baked beans on toast, Jaffa Cakes, and British chocolate.”
Embracing Pub Culture
One of the highlights of her return is the vibrant pub culture that embodies the spirit of England. Turner expressed her fondness for this social aspect, particularly during the lively spring months, saying, “The thing that I missed the most was pub culture, especially in spring, when the pubs are rammed and people are spilling out onto the streets and it is all so joyful. I love that gathering of people.”
Contrast with American Lifestyle
Although she acknowledges that cities like New York possess a similar atmosphere, Turner felt a stark contrast to her experiences in Los Angeles. “New York has it, of course, but when I lived in L.A., you’d have to drive everywhere. I missed just wandering down the street and seeing a bunch of people chatting at the pub. To me, that’s England,” she explained.
As she adjusts to life back in her native country, it’s clear that while Sophie Turner cherishes many elements of British culture, those sunny days in America still hold a special place in her heart.
