Sombr’s SNL Debut with "12 to 12"

Singer-songwriter Sombr graced the Saturday Night Live stage with two standout tracks from his debut EP, I Barely Know Her, which was released in August. As a native of New York City and a fresh face on the Grammy scene with a nomination for Best New Artist, Sombr captivated audiences with “12 to 12,” a track that gained recognition as an MTV Video Music Awards nominee for Song of the Summer.

A Stirring Rendition of "Back to Friends"

Returning to the stage later, Sombr delivered an emotional performance of “Back to Friends” at the piano. This track, which he wrote and produced himself, is the lead single from his ten-track LP and has been recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the Best Songs of 2025 So Far. As described by the publication, the song “plays out like an impassioned conversation that bleeds through the walls and captures the melodrama of teenage love.”

Shane Boose’s Rising Star

With his real name being Shane Boose, Sombr has been praised for his distinctive style and charismatic presence. Rolling Stone’s Larisha Paul highlighted his “distinct internal confidence and external charm,” qualities that set him apart from many of his contemporaries in the pop genre. This SNL appearance solidifies his position as a promising newcomer in the music landscape.

Touring Success and Global Reach

Sombr’s stint on SNL aligns with the conclusion of the North American leg of his successful The Late Nights & Young Romance Tour, which was completely sold out. As he prepares to head to New Zealand and Australia next month, followed by a European tour in February, his global appeal continues to expand. Reflecting on his journey, the 20-year-old shared with MTV, “It’s hard to step back and be like, ‘Wow, this is amazing’ when everything is happening so fast, but it is the best thing that has ever happened to me.” His excitement and gratitude for connecting with fans around the world underscore his passion and dedication to his music career.
