Introducing the Talent Accelerator Program
The Talent Accelerator Program was revealed during the Asia TV Forum and Market, marking a strategic move to bolster Singapore’s role in the competitive media landscape. This initiative provides structured pathways for media professionals, guiding them from the early stages of project development to successful global distribution. Its primary goal is to elevate Singapore’s presence in the international film and TV industry.
Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, Tan Kiat How, emphasized the importance of adapting to the rapidly changing media environment. “The $200 million [$154 million] Talent Accelerator Program is a major investment to ensure that Made-with-Singapore content stands out on the international stage,” Tan stated.
Strategic Focus Areas
The program is strategically divided into three phases: development, production, and distribution. Initially, it aims to connect local talent with global commissioners and buyers, offering valuable mentorship opportunities in areas such as story crafting, pitching, and negotiations. This phase is critical in equipping Singapore talent to compete globally.
In its production phase, the initiative plans to co-fund regional and international co-productions across various genres, including films, scripted and unscripted television, and intellectual property adaptations. The goal is to support creative endeavors with potential for worldwide appeal.
Global Reach and Collaboration
The distribution aspect involves a dedicated team focused on promoting Singaporean content globally. This includes additional marketing funds to shine a spotlight on selected projects. Yvonne Tang, Assistant Chief Executive for the media industry group at IMDA, highlighted the program’s ambition to position Singapore as a key creative collaborator on the global stage.
“TAP signals a fresh chapter in our endeavour to support and develop our film and television talent through world-class mentorships and masterclasses, strategic global partnerships, and a new wave of co-production opportunities,” Tang remarked.
Recently, Singapore has already embarked on several collaborative projects, including an unscripted content partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. Further application details for the initiative will be available in early 2026, promising a new era of opportunities for Singapore’s burgeoning media talent.
