Rebel Wilson's Legal Battles Deepen with 'The Deb' Controversy

Rebel Wilson is currently embroiled in a tumultuous legal battle surrounding her upcoming film, ‘The Deb,’ and insiders suggest that her actions may be exacerbating the situation. Reports indicate that the actress’s controversial social media presence and recent behavior are making things worse, resulting in a series of complex and bitter lawsuits. As details emerge, it appears that Wilson is not just defending herself from accusations but is also launching an offensive against several powerful adversaries, highlighting the tumultuous landscape of Hollywood legal disputes.

Insiders tell Page Six that “reckless” Rebel Wilson — who’s taking on Hollywood on several fronts — is her own worst enemy.

The “Bridesmaids” star is embroiled in four lawsuits over her upcoming movie ‘The Deb,’ and press reports just revealed that a shady PR team working on her behalf appears to have launched a clandestine campaign to smear one of her adversaries.

Wilson hasn’t held back on social media either, recently going on a tirade against billionaire Sir Len Blavatnik, referring to him as a “USSR born oligarch” and noting his mention in the Epstein files.

Rebel Wilson refuses to remain silent about her ongoing legal battles with producers of her film ‘The Deb.’ Wilson has been locked in the suits since 2024, when she accused the film’s producers — including songwriter Amanda Ghost — of “inappropriate behavior towards the lead,” played by Charlotte MacInnes, in a video she posted on social media. She also alleged they were “embezzling funds from the film’s budget,” retaliating against her after she reported them, and trying to prevent the movie from premiering at the Toronto Film Festival.

The producers subsequently filed a defamation suit against her in Los Angeles, leading Wilson to countersue, expanding on her original claims of sexual harassment and embezzlement. MacInnes publicly denied Wilson’s allegations, stating she was not sexually harassed, and filed her own defamation suit against Wilson in Australia. Additionally, AI Film, which produced ‘The Deb,’ pursued a commercial case against Wilson’s Camp Sugar production company in Australia.

Then last week, the Hollywood Reporter published leaked audio from Wilson’s crisis PR team, which also represents Justin Baldoni. In the recording, a team member was reportedly discussing plans for fake websites that would depict Ghost as a sex-trafficking madame.

While Wilson claims ignorance regarding these websites, she aggressively took to social media to defend herself against mounting pressures.

In her posts, she expressed frustration with the legal battles, stating, “I was going to wait to take the stand, but the absolute bombardment on me as a person, via heavily paid crisis PR firms recently has taken its toll and it’s impossible to say nothing.” She reiterated her allegations against Sir Len and highlighted her appeal for help regarding the situation on set, further claiming, “She’s only making things worse, and not thinking things through,” citing a source familiar with her case.

Wilson maintained her position, stating, “Everyone, who knows me, knows I am a true Rebel. I say it how it is. There was dodgy behaviour on my movie set by UK producers and I reported it.” She believed that her vocal stance would prompt substantive changes in the industry, asserting, “I thought calling out the bad behaviour would make it stop.”

In her recent posts, she urged Blavatnik to cease funding “people who behaved inappropriately” and asked him to halt the “ridiculous lawsuits and crisis PR attacks that are costing millions.” She ended one of her Instagram stories with a defiant message, stating, “I am PRETTY STRONG, and when push comes to shove, I’m going to get on the stand and tell it like it is.”

Wilson also warned her followers, “watch now for the ‘fun’ crisis PR articles that are coming down the track to try and discredit me… I’m not scared and I won’t be silenced.” As tensions simmer, it remains uncertain how Rebel Wilson’s aggressive approach will impact the legal outcomes in her ongoing battle over ‘The Deb.’

Reps for all parties have yet to comment on this unfolding saga.
