The film tells the compelling story of Jan, a struggling barge skipper portrayed by Deddes, who embarks on a desperate journey transporting sand from Dunkirk to Rotterdam. In a twist of fate, Jan discovers 11 refugees hidden in his cargo, propelling him into a situation that forces him to confront his biases and view life through a different lens as he navigates the canals of Europe.
