On a sweltering day in Los Angeles marked by unusual August humidity, Variety celebrated the brightest young talents in entertainment at their annual Power of Young Hollywood event, held at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills.
Celebrating Rising Stars
This year, the event honored cover stars Tate McRae, Sombr, Tyriq Withers, and Malachi Barton, welcoming a host of actors, musicians, influencers, and industry execs. Co-presidents Dea Lawrence and Ramin Setoodeh, who also serves as co-editor-in-chief of Variety, hosted the summer bash, with actor Mario Lopez and his son Dominic serving as emcees.

Among the influential guests was Nadia Gray, joining Variety’s 2026 class of New Leaders, including WME partner Mike DeVeau and Brillstein’s Matt Sadeghian. Star Inde Navarrette and director Curry Barker, breakout talents from this summer’s hit film “Obsession,” also participated, mingling with notable figures like Charli D’Amelio and casting director Ayo Davis.

During her speech, McRae reflected on her journey, stating, “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that I’m incapable of doing anything casually in my life…. Obsession has always been the thing that drives me. I want to learn everything about it and become better at it.”
Sombr, who had recently been honored by Buckingham, shared his own songwriting struggles, saying, “I write all my songs alone in my bedroom. My mind goes to dark places, and it feels like the only place I can turn to is writing songs.”
