Morrissey’s fans were left disappointed as the singer’s promoter, OCESA, announced the abrupt cancellation of two highly anticipated concerts in Mexico. The shows, originally planned for October 31 in Mexico City and November 4 in Zapopan, were called off due to the artist’s “extreme exhaustion.” This latest development adds to a series of cancellations for the former Smiths frontman, whose touring schedule has faced multiple disruptions this year.
Morrissey’s Mexico Concert Cancellations
OCESA took to Instagram to inform concertgoers about the cancellation of Morrissey’s performances. The promoter explained that the decision was made because of the artist’s extreme exhaustion. Fans who had purchased tickets online were assured of automatic refunds to their credit card, while those who bought tickets via Ticketmaster or the box office can apply for refunds starting November 7.
The sudden announcement left many fans disappointed, but this isn’t the first time Morrissey has had to alter his plans. In recent months, his tour has faced a rocky road with several shows called off for various reasons.
Social Media Reactions
Following OCESA’s announcement, Morrissey’s official website featured a video for his song “I Know It’s Gonna Happen Someday.” The post, adorned with several Mexican flag emojis, seemed to acknowledge the disappointment while perhaps suggesting a message of hope and future engagements.
Morrissey’s relationship with live performances has been unpredictable, with cancellations frequently occurring at the last minute. Fans might recall the summer concert in Stockholm canceled due to logistical challenges and a September incident in the U.S. where security threats led to show withdrawals.
Future Performances
Despite the recent cancellations, Morrissey is preparing to continue his tour in South America. His next scheduled concert is on November 8 at Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The performance roster extends into December, wrapping up in Greece with a show on December 12.
Looking ahead, Morrissey is set to return to the United States in January. Starting on January 3 in Rancho Mirage, California, he plans a series of concerts culminating in Hollywood, Florida on January 22.
While the cancellation of the Mexico concerts is disappointing for fans, Morrissey’s commitment to fulfilling future tour dates remains a hopeful prospect. His enduring appeal ensures that audiences worldwide eagerly await his next performance, hoping that his health allows him to continue entertaining fans with his iconic music.
