Montana Residents Respond to ‘Yellowstone’ Star Luke Grimes' Relocation

Luke Grimes, widely recognized for his portrayal of Kayce Dutton in “Yellowstone,” is currently contending with unexpected hostility from local residents after relocating from Hollywood to Montana. The move, intended to provide a more serene lifestyle for him and his family, has not been as smooth as anticipated and has ignited tension within the community. This article delves into Grimes’ experiences in Montana, revealing the challenges he faces as a celebrity trying to integrate into a small-town environment.

Unexpected Backlash from Locals

In a candid conversation on the Joe Rogan podcast, Luke Grimes opened up about the challenges of his transition to life in the Big Sky State. He explained that his departure from Los Angeles has drawn ire from some locals who are not thrilled with the influx of newcomers. “Well, your show made a lot of f–king people move out there, though,” noted Rogan, to which Grimes responded, “That’s true. Yeah. And they’re not happy about it.” This sentiment of discontent among some residents highlights the stark divide between Montana locals and Hollywood transplants.

Challenging Public Interactions

Grimes described how this tension has manifested in more public settings, particularly at local bars. “I can’t go to bars there anymore because whatever that one idiot is, is at the bar, and he can’t wait to start a fight with me,” he revealed. The actor’s experiences underscore the difficulties celebrities face in trying to enjoy a semblance of normalcy while living in areas that might not welcome their presence wholeheartedly. He further expressed his reluctance to disclose specific details about his residence due to ongoing hostility: “People are super weird about it, so I don’t tell anyone exactly where I’m at because they would get really mad at me.”

A Personal Decision for Family

Despite facing backlash, Luke Grimes emphasizes that moving to Montana was a deeply personal decision for him and his wife, Brazilian model Bianca Rodrigues. Speaking at the “Marshals” premiere, he explained the shift that prompted their relocation: “I was going up there three or four months out of the year, and then anytime we’d get done filming, and I’d come back here, it sort of felt like I was leaving home rather than going back home.” This longing for a true sense of home ultimately drew them to the state.

Finding Love in Montana

The couple, who share a son named Rigel Randolph Grimes, gradually fell in love with Montana over several years. “It was just a gear change that slowly happened over a course of a few years and then, yeah, my wife and I just fell in love with it and decided to live there,” Grimes shared. His return to screens as Kayce Dutton in “Marshals” marks yet another chapter in the ever-expanding “Yellowstone” universe, an endeavor that continues to resonate with audiences.

In the latest installment, Grimes’ character joins an elite team of US Marshals to maintain order in Montana, balancing personal and professional challenges. As Grimes navigates his role both on-screen and off, he remains committed to making Montana feel like home, despite the obstacles presented by his celebrity status.
