Michael Chiklis Sends Support
On Monday, Chiklis used X to communicate with fans and the new team behind the Marvel reboot. Reflecting on his time as The Thing in the original “Fantastic Four,” he conveyed his appreciation for the continued love from the fanbase. Chiklis sent his regards, writing, “I want to thank everyone for all the ‘Fantastic Four’ love this last couple of months during the run-up to the new ‘F4’ flick. Speaking of which, I want to wish the cast and crew of ‘First Steps’ the best of luck and success. I admire these actors and look forward to seeing them take on these iconic roles. #F4Forever #TheThing.”
From “Fantastic Four” to “First Steps”
Chiklis starred in the 2005 Marvel blockbuster, which included Ioan Gruffudd as Mr. Fantastic, Jessica Alba as Invisible Woman, Chris Evans as Human Torch, and Julian McMahon as Dr. Doom. Directed by Tim Story, the film was a box office success, grossing over $330 million globally. Now, the baton is passed to a new ensemble with “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” as fans eagerly await to see how the characters will evolve under fresh direction.
The New Cast Takes the Stage
“First Steps” introduces a dynamic lineup with Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing. Under the direction of Matt Shakman and with a script by Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson, and Jeff Kaplan, the film promises to follow Marvel’s First Family in their battle against the planet-eating alien Galactus. It’s poised to deliver an exciting new chapter in the beloved franchise.
Challenges in Production
Despite the excitement, production faced challenges, including a cut that removed John Malkovich as villain Red Ghost. Shakman explained, “There were a lot of things that ultimately ended up hitting the cutting room floor. When we were building a ’60s retro-future world, introducing all of these villains, introducing these four main characters as a group, as well as individually, introducing the idea of a child — there was a lot of stuff to balance in this movie and some things had to go ultimately in terms of shaping the film for its final version.” This decision showcases the complexity of creating a cohesive narrative while introducing new elements.
The excitement surrounding “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is palpable as fans, old and new, await its release. With Michael Chiklis’s heartfelt support and a promising new cast, the reboot is set to bring fresh energy to Marvel’s cinematic universe.
