Meghan Markle was very in tune with Prince Harry’s emotions at the British Armed Forces Tribute on March 7. Meghan comforted Harry during the event, which was one of their last as senior royals.
It’s officially the end of an era: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have finished their final round of royal engagements and will no longer be working as senior royals following their decision to step back from the monarchy. It’s been quite the emotional rollercoaster ride since they announced the news back in January—the queen’s been stressed out, Prince William felt “blindsided” by the news, and Prince Charles was “incandescent with rage,” but as this chapter comes to a close, Harry’s feeling pretty emotional about everything that happened.
When Meghan and Harry attended the British Armed Forces Tribute on March 7, Harry was apparently having a difficult time behind the scenes as he put on his military uniform for the last time. According to a People source, “that was very emotional for him” as he served in the British Army for 10 years and rose to the rank of Captain-General of the Royal Marines. “That’s 10 years of his life that he gave to serve his country, and he basically has to give it away now because he’s choosing to protect his family,” the source added.
During the event, Meghan made sure to keep a tight hold of Harry’s hand as a way to show her support. It made for some seriously cute PDA too! “Deep down they are truly in love with each other, and what you see is truly who they are,” the source said of Meghan and Harry’s relationship.
Though Harry is having a hard time with leaving the monarchy RN, he needed to “put his wife and son first, and that it had been really hard,” a separate source revealed. “He is obviously very devoted to her.”
