Those trying to access the Letterboxd website encountered an error message stating, “An error occurred. Please try again later.”
Official Response to the Outage
In response to the technical difficulties, Letterboxd issued a statement on Instagram: “Hang in there. Our team is aware of an outage affecting service and is working to restore access as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience and support.”

Recent reports from Puck indicate that Letterboxd, which was founded in 2011, is in preliminary discussions with several high-profile buyers, including Netflix, Sony Pictures, Paramount Skydance, private equity firm TPG, and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. While Netflix, Paramount, and Sony Pictures opted not to comment, representatives from TPG did not respond to requests for comment.
A Letterboxd representative commented on these talks: “As Letterboxd has grown, it’s natural there will be interest in what we do next. There’s nothing specific for us to share at this time. Any decision about Letterboxd’s future would involve the founders.”
