Leonardo DiCaprio, celebrated for both his acting prowess and off-screen charisma, became the subject of a comedic jab at the recent 2026 Critics Choice Awards. Host Chelsea Handler directed her humor at the esteemed actor, prompting a widespread response. The exchange instantly caught public attention, especially given DiCaprio’s lighthearted reaction amidst the star-studded audience.
Leonardo DiCaprio Takes the Joke in Stride
The 2026 Critics Choice Awards were filled with memorable moments, including Chelsea Handler’s comedic monologue. DiCaprio, attending the event after a brief stint in St. Barts, found himself at the center of one of her jokes. “He was trapped on a boat in St. Barts,” Handler quipped, making a humorous nod to DiCaprio’s iconic film Titanic. “It was just like The Titanic but worse, because Jeff Bezos was there.”
DiCaprio responded to Handler’s jest with laughter, much like the rest of the audience. The mention of his holidays with girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti, Jeff Bezos, and his wife Lauren Sánchez Bezos further heightened the humor. DiCaprio’s ability to appreciate the humor cast him yet again as a favorite in Hollywood, unfazed by the mild roast.
Award-Winning Night for DiCaprio
While Chelsea Handler’s jokes were a highlight, the night also celebrated DiCaprio’s accomplishments. His latest film, One Battle After Another, clinched the award for Best Picture. Handler didn’t miss the opportunity to add a witty remark about DiCaprio’s newfound, perhaps lesser-known talent.
“I thought we already knew everything there was to know about Leo DiCaprio,” Handler observed with a smirk. “And then this year we find out that he can f–king whistle, too.” This playful acknowledgment of DiCaprio’s versatility added a humorous touch to the awards night, complementing the actor’s illustrious career achievements.
DiCaprio’s Unwavering Charm
Throughout his career, DiCaprio has been known for his gracious handling of public attention and jest. The interaction with Handler at the Critics Choice Awards further affirmed his status as a good sport, enhancing his public image. As Leo engaged with both the humor and the accolades of the night, his poise underscored why he remains one of Hollywood’s most cherished figures.
Roasts and awards aside, Leonardo DiCaprio’s reaction to Chelsea Handler’s joke reflected his characteristic charm and resilience, making the 2026 Critics Choice Awards an affair to remember.
