Kristen Bell and Brian Cox Unaware of Fox News Podcast Use

In a surprising revelation, renowned actors Kristen Bell and Brian Cox have discovered that audio recordings they made over a decade ago have been used in Fox News Audio’s new series, “The Life of Jesus Podcast,” without their prior knowledge. This unexpected reuse of material from 2010 has stirred a conversation about rights and permissions in the digital age.

Discovery of Unexpected Involvement

Both Kristen Bell and Brian Cox were taken aback when they learned of their participation in a project they hadn’t agreed to recently. The podcast, which features a star-studded cast including Sean Astin, Neal McDonough, Malcolm McDowell, John Rhys-Davies, and Julia Ormond, repurposes audio from a 2010 project. The actors’ lack of awareness points to potential oversights in how legacy audio rights are managed.

Reps Address the Situation

A representative for Cox told The Hollywood Reporter, “Brian recorded audio for a project over a decade ago. He was unaware that the audio would be repurposed for a new podcast series in 2025. Brian only became aware of the podcast yesterday.”

Similarly, Bell’s representatives informed Rolling Stone that she had no prior knowledge of the podcast until her team received a request related to its promotion. It was only then that they discovered her recordings from 2010’s “The Truth and Life Dramatized Audio Bible” had been used. Her team emphasized that she never granted permission for this reuse.

Fox News Media’s Response

Responding to the allegations, a representative for Fox News Media stated: “Gulfstream Studios produced the Life of Jesus Podcast from The Truth and Life Dramatized Audio Bible, which was licensed by Fox News Audio, with full cooperation and participation by all the actors involved.”

This statement suggests that from Fox’s perspective, all necessary licenses were in place, though it’s clear that there was a communications gap with the actors themselves.

Details of the Podcast Release

The “Life of Jesus Podcast” is set for a staggered release, with its first 13 episodes launching on November 30. This will be followed by additional episodes slated for December 21, February 15, and March 29, aiming to capture listeners with its rich tapestry of historical and religious narratives voiced by well-known actors.

As the story unfolds, it casts light on the complexities of media production and the importance of clear communication regarding intellectual property rights, especially when older materials find new life in modern projects.
