Live Performance on The Tonight Show
Recently, Katseye captured attention on The Tonight Show as they delivered a vibrant performance of their latest single, “Animal.” Four of the group’s members—Daniela Avanzini, Yoonchae Jeung, Lara Raj, and Megan Skiendiel—brought the energy to the stage, while Sophia Laforteza was notably absent, as she has taken a hiatus to focus on her mental health.
Insights into “Animal” and the Upcoming EP
Co-written by Ed Sheeran and produced by Omer Fedi and Blake Slatkin, “Animal” will showcase the group’s new sound and will be featured on the upcoming EP Wild, scheduled for release on August 14. This single follows their earlier release, “Pinky Up,” which preceded their debut at Coachella and marked their first EP without Manon Bannerman, who is also on hiatus.
Discussing New Beginnings
In a heartfelt conversation with host Jimmy Fallon, the members expressed their unwavering support for their absent counterparts. “We have nothing but so much love and support for Sophia and Manon,” Raj shared. “And it’s beautiful to see how the Eyekons give them so much support and also continue to support us.”
As they discussed the direction of their new music, Avanzini characterized this phase as a new chapter, stating simply, “Wild.” Raj added, “I’d say maturity. Growing up.” This reflects their commitment to evolving as artists while remaining connected to their roots.
The Collaboration with Ed Sheeran
The collaboration with Sheeran for “Animal” came serendipitously when they met him at the NRJ Awards in France. “He came to us and was like, ‘I’ve got this song for you,’” Raj recalled, highlighting the exciting nature of their creative partnership. Sheeran, along with producers Blake and Omer, had previously worked on their hit “Touch,” which made this collaboration feel like a full-circle moment for the group.
Looking Ahead to Tour and Film
In addition to their EP launch, Katseye will release their movie, Katseye: Wild Hearts, in August. Following that, they will embark on the Wildworld Tour, kicking off in September. The tour will include multiple stops across North America and Europe, featuring two nights at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
The excitement for the tour is evident among the group members. Jeung expressed her feelings, stating, “I feel like it will hit me once I get there because it’s our first arena tour. It’s a much bigger stage. I’m a little bit nervous. And it’s very exciting.”
