Horror Enthusiasts Rejoice: Stage 32 Opens Submissions with Mammoth Pictures

Stage 32 and Mammoth Pictures have joined forces to launch an exciting horror development program, inviting screenwriters to submit their projects for a chance to bring their darkest and most innovative stories to life. Submissions for this groundbreaking initiative are officially open, with winners to be revealed on January 30. This new collaboration aims to provide an unparalleled platform for budding writers to develop and showcase their talents in the horror genre.

Building a Gateway for Global Storytelling

The partnership between Mammoth Pictures and Stage 32 marks another step in Mammoth’s mission to create genre-defying films for a worldwide audience. Known for successful projects like the upcoming sci-fi thriller “Parallel,” starring Danielle Deadwyler and Aldis Hodge, and the haunting “The Night,” Mammoth Pictures is no stranger to impactful storytelling. The latter film, an Iran-U.S. co-production, came to life following screenwriter Milad Jarmooz’s success in a Mammoth screenplay competition. Founded by Kourosh Ahari and Alex Bretow in 2015, Mammoth Pictures continues to push boundaries in the film industry.

The Visionary Mission of Stage 32

Stage 32 operates as a social network and educational platform, connecting film and television professionals. CEO Richard “RB” Botto expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Mammoth Pictures represents exactly the kind of visionary production partner we seek. Kourosh and Alex have demonstrated an incredible ability to discover and develop compelling narratives that resonate globally while breaking new ground.” This alignment underpins Stage 32’s mission to launch careers and bring compelling material to production.

A Platform for Daring Filmmakers

Mammoth’s co-founder, Kourosh Ahari, shared his excitement about teaming up with Stage 32. “This partnership with Stage 32 is deeply aligned with what we believe at Mammoth Pictures — that great storytelling knows no borders. We’re excited to build new bridges for filmmakers ready to bring fresh, daring visions to the screen.” Alex Bretow echoed this sentiment, highlighting the opportunity for writers from diverse backgrounds to showcase their stories worldwide.

Pathways to Success and Innovation

The horror development program will be hosted on Stage 32, with Mammoth Pictures evaluating semi-finalist loglines and finalist scripts. Entries will be judged based on creative merit and commercial potential, offering winners a comprehensive track for script development, mentorship, and production possibilities. The program is a testament to the efforts of Stage 32’s Geoffroy Faugérolas, who emphasized the importance of creating access for undiscovered talent in the industry. “This partnership is about discoverability, access, and launching careers while honoring diverse cultural perspectives,” he noted.

Through this collaborative initiative, Stage 32 and Mammoth Pictures aim to redefine the landscape for emerging horror writers, providing them with the tools and exposure needed to succeed in a competitive industry.
