Hollywood Cheers as Cinerama Dome Advances with Alcohol Permit

The iconic Cinerama Dome is set for a significant revival, with the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council unanimously backing its application for an alcohol permit. This decision marks a pivotal moment in the journey to reopen the historic ArcLight Hollywood and Cinerama Dome, a beloved venue that has been closed since 2020. The main keyword here, “Cinerama Dome alcohol permit,” plays a central role in restoring the theater’s former glory.

A Milestone for Cinerama Dome

Monday evening was crucial as the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council gave unanimous support for the Cinerama Dome alcohol permit. This approval is a significant stride towards reopening the ArcLight Hollywood and Cinerama Dome, known for their unique cinematic experiences.

Elizabeth Petersen-Gower, a land use consultant representing the theater owners, Dome Center for LLC Robinson Property Group, expressed enthusiasm over this development, stating, “We’re very excited to be here at this point. The approval of the conditional use permit will be the next big step in the ArcLight Theater and the Cinerama Dome reopening.”

Commitment to Redevelopment

The Forman family, owners of the theater, are fully dedicated to revitalizing the property. Petersen-Gower highlighted their determination, referencing their collaboration with the Blue Note jazz club. “The family’s committed to redeveloping the property and getting it up and running again,” she noted.

Regarding the timeline for the reopening, Petersen-Gower remained optimistic, stating, “I will be able to [share the timetable] soon. The entitlements are a big part of that and that is moving very smoothly.”

Community and Cultural Benefits

Securing the Cinerama Dome alcohol permit is not just about serving beverages; it represents a broader benefit to the community. Petersen-Gower emphasized that a restaurant and liquor license would positively impact nearby properties. “The project will not adversely affect adjacent properties or the surrounding neighborhood,” she assured.

The plan aligns with Hollywood’s role as a global media and entertainment hub, ensuring land and resources are preserved for related uses.

Ongoing Developments and Future Steps

With the Blue Note jazz club already operational at the Sunset Boulevard location, work on redeveloping the complex is underway. The neighborhood council’s support came after a June zoning hearing, which was a precursor to the Blue Note’s opening.

Though the council’s role is advisory, their support is pivotal. They considered whether to endorse or oppose the conditional use permit for alcohol sales at the 6360 W. Sunset Blvd. theater and restaurant complex. The approval of the Cinerama Dome alcohol permit signifies a promising future for Hollywood’s legendary cinema landmark.
