In an exciting twist blending sports and comedy, Glen Powell takes center stage in the trailer for Hulu’s upcoming series “Chad Powers,” inspired by co-producer Eli Manning. Highlighting a unique storyline, Powell channels a creative alteration of “Mrs. Doubtfire, but with football,” as his character attempts to reclaim his tarnished legacy. This captivating series promises a fresh take on personal and professional reinvention, making it a must-watch for both football enthusiasts and comedy lovers.
Glen Powell stars as a disgraced college quarterback who embarks on a bold comeback in disguise. The new Hulu series, “Chad Powers,” inspired by Eli Manning’s original concept, premieres on September 30.
The streaming service released the first trailer, where Powell’s character humorously remarks, “I’m gonna do a Mrs. Doubtfire, but with football,” referring to the beloved 1993 film where Robin Williams’ character adopts the guise of an elderly nanny. In a similar fashion, but with a football twist, Powell transforms himself into a West Virginian persona.
Powell’s Transformed Persona
In “Chad Powers,” Powell plays Russ Holliday, a once-promising college quarterback who loses his glory by faltering in “the Big Game.” To redeem himself, Holliday adopts the alias “Chad Powers,” complete with a wig, mustache, and facial prosthetics, attempting to secure a spot on the South Georgia football team.
An Eli Manning Original
The series is crafted by former NFL superstars Peyton and Eli Manning, with Eli featuring in the storyline as a rival coach. The inventive “Chad Powers” concept originated when Manning himself participated in walk-on trials for Penn State in disguise in 2022.
Star-Studded Cast
Alongside Glen Powell, “Chad Powers” features an impressive lineup, including Steve Zahn as the coach of South Georgia, with Toby Huss, Clayne Crawford, and Wynn Everett. The series is peppered with numerous cameos from the college football realm, enhancing its authenticity.
Mark your calendars for September 30, when “Chad Powers” premieres on Hulu, promising a unique blend of sports drama and comedic flair that is sure to captivate audiences.
