Understanding Sled Hockey
Sled hockey, also known as “sledge hockey” or “para ice hockey,” involves athletes seated in sleds mounted on two hockey blades. Players use sticks with metal grips to maneuver on the ice, aiming to score against the opposing team. Developed for athletes with physical disabilities, sled hockey was introduced to the Paralympics in 1994. The U.S. has claimed the last four para hockey titles and aims to extend its winning streak to five.
