FBI Ups Reward to $100K in Nancy Guthrie Case

In a significant development, the FBI has unveiled new details about the suspect in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case, heightening public interest and urgency. The agency has also increased the reward to $100,000 for information leading to resolution in this high-profile case. This move comes as investigators intensify efforts to locate Nancy Guthrie, mother of Savannah Guthrie, emphasizing their determination to solve the mystery surrounding her disappearance.

Updated Suspect Description

On Thursday, the FBI’s Operational Technology Division revealed new insights following forensic analysis of doorbell camera footage. The suspect is described as a man approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build. Notably, he was seen wearing a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack.

The FBI’s official statement expressed optimism that the updated description would refine public tips. “Since February 1, 2026, the FBI has collected over 13,000 tips from the public,” they explained. “Every tip is reviewed for credibility, relevance, and information that can be acted upon by law enforcement.”

Increased Reward Announcement

The federal agency announced the reward increase to $100,000, aiming to encourage those with information to come forward. This financial incentive underscores the FBI’s commitment to finding Nancy Guthrie and ensuring justice for her disappearance.

“Today, the FBI is increasing its reward up to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance,” read a recent tweet from FBI Phoenix.

Evidence and Investigation Progress

Shortly after these updates, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that a pair of black gloves found at the scene had been submitted for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

Additionally, the FBI released surveillance photos and videos featuring a potential suspect. The black-and-white footage shows an individual clad in a jacket, ski mask, gloves, and a backpack, visibly carrying a firearm.

While someone was detained for questioning, they were released the following day. Authorities continue to investigate all leads in the case.

Ongoing Efforts and Public Appeals

Nancy was last seen on January 31, when Annie Guthrie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni, dropped her off at her Tucson home. Despite initial speculation, Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that Cioni is not a suspect, and the case remains a “possible kidnapping or abduction.”

TMZ and two local news outlets reportedly received a ransom note, though authorities have not confirmed this directly. Meanwhile, Nancy Guthrie’s children, including Savannah Guthrie, have made emotional pleas on social media, addressing the suspected kidnappers and urging for their mother’s safe return.

“We received your message, and we understand,” Savannah stated in one of the videos. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her.”

Sheriff Nanos continues to express hope for her safe return, reaffirming, “She’s alive, and we want to save her.”
