The allure of Hollywood‘s most prestigious accolade has left some remarkably talented celebrities without an Oscar, despite multiple nominations. These actors and filmmakers have repeatedly demonstrated their remarkable skills, capturing hearts and rave reviews. Yet, the golden statuette remains elusive, a testament to the unpredictability of the Academy Awards and the fierce competition that defines them. Here, we explore the stories of celebrities who have never won an Oscar, despite nominations, and their contributions to the world of cinema.
Timothée Chalamet: Hoping for Third Time’s the Charm
Timothée Chalamet remains optimistic that his third nomination might finally secure him an Oscar. He was previously nominated for his role in 2018’s Call Me By Your Name and again for 2025’s A Complete Unknown. Despite not yet winning, Chalamet candidly expressed his desire to clinch a victory for his performance in the table tennis dramedy Marty Supreme.
In a conversation with filmmaker Richard Curtis, Chalamet shared, “But I want to give you context for that, because sometimes I feel like I’ve been misinterpreted in my quest. All these award things, they supplement the movie.” This highlights his perspective on how nominations complement cinematic achievements.
Championing Future Projects
Beyond personal accolades, Chalamet emphasized the importance of boosting projects like Hamnet and One Battle After Another. He pointed out, “the way anyone in those movies is supporting Marty Supreme.” For him, nominations and possible wins fuel the broader narrative, supporting not just individual ambition but the films and stories themselves.
He continued, “So anything else, yes, it helps to feed into the narrative…everyone’s pursuing it, you know?” This ambition and dedication underline the symbiotic relationship between recognition and the success of future projects, allowing creativity to flourish.
The journey of celebrities who have never won an Oscar, despite nominations, is a reminder of the industry’s competitive spirit and the collective efforts behind every celebrated film. Their resilience and passion continue to inspire both audiences and fellow artists worldwide.
