Emraan Hashmi's 'Rooh': A Musical Horror with Unique Insights

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is set to star in the upcoming musical horror film “Rooh,” which has recently expanded its production team by bringing on board Tips Films and Tips Music. The film is expected to reach theaters in 2027, with a release across Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu markets.

Production Team and Creative Vision

Directed by Mayank Sharma, “Rooh” features a screenplay co-written by Sharma and Vishal Kapoor. The film is produced by a collaboration of Vicked Films and Tips Films, with Kumar Taurani, Girissh Kumar, Vikram Khakhar, and Sunny Khanna as producers, while Vikas Sahni serves as co-producer. Music for the soundtrack will be released through Tips Music, and is poised to play a significant role in the film’s narrative.

A Fusion of Horror and Romance

“Rooh” promises a unique blend of horror and romance, intricately weaving music into its storyline. Emraan Hashmi is no stranger to the genre, having headlined several successful Hindi-language horror films, including “Raaz: The Mystery Continues,” “Raaz 3: The Third Dimension,” and “Ek Thi Daayan.” His previous films have seen their songs achieve remarkable popularity, often eclipsing the films themselves.

Recent Work and Collaboration

In January of this year, Hashmi made headlines as a customs officer in “Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web,” Neeraj Pandey’s crime series for Netflix. The series, available in multiple dubbed versions including Tamil, Telugu, and English, performed impressively by topping Netflix’s global non-English TV charts during its premiere week.

The collaboration with Tips Films marks a nostalgic reunion for Hashmi with Taurani, who expressed the emotional significance of this partnership. “Tips produced my very first film, ‘Footpath,'” Taurani noted, highlighting their history together. He expressed enthusiasm about recreating the magic they have shared over the years with “Rooh.”

Creative Insights from the Team

According to Hashmi, the synergy with Taurani feels serendipitous, emphasizing that music remains a core element in connecting with audiences. “With ‘Rooh,’ we want music that captures the soul of the film, which is deeply romantic, haunting, and rooted by emotion,” he stated.

Vikram Khakhar from Vicked Films described “Rooh” as a significant project for his production company, welcoming the addition of Tips Films and Tips Music as a major milestone. “We are collectively excited to bring an immersive and memorable horror experience to audiences in theaters in 2027,” Khakhar stated.

Sunny Khanna also expressed his excitement about working with Taurani and Kumar, citing their impressive track record in both film and music. “With this partnership, we look forward to taking ‘Rooh’ to audiences across Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu markets,” he remarked.
