This exploration delves into Corll’s gruesome acts, the impact on his victims, and the insights from Henley that help piece together the grim puzzle of the Candy Man Killer’s legacy.

The Enigmatic Figure of Dean Corll

Dean Corll, infamously dubbed the Candy Man Killer because of his family’s candy business, orchestrated a campaign of terror in Houston during the early 1970s. His heinous acts have left an indelible mark on the community and those involved. Corll’s accomplice, Wayne Henley, recently spoke out, providing a closer look into the man behind the moniker.

Who Were Dean Corll’s Victims?

The victims of the Candy Man Killer were predominantly young boys, aged between 13 and 19, subjected to horrific violence, being either shot or strangled. Among them was Jeffrey Alan Konen, an 18-year-old University of Texas student who vanished while hitchhiking on September 25, 1970. Tragically, he was the first missing teen to be linked to Corll, his body discovered buried on High Island.

Corll’s brutality extended to families, claiming two sets of brothers. Jerry Waldrop, 13, and Donald Waldrop, 15, disappeared together on January 30, 1971, their remains eventually found side by side in a boat shed. The tragedy continued with Billy Gene Baulch Jr., a former employee at Corll’s candy company, who vanished at 17 on May 21, 1972, later unearthed at High Island Beach. His brother, Michael Anthony Baulch, aged 15, disappeared on July 19, 1973, his body later discovered near Lake Sam Rayburn.
