Jordan Firstman is ready to bring his cinematic vision to the nightlife scene with his directorial debut, “Club Kid.” The film, which has already garnered significant attention, is set to be showcased in a series of free screenings across various U.S. cities.
Free Screenings for Nightlife Enthusiasts
A24 will host these complimentary screenings in collaboration with Resident Advisor, an esteemed online platform dedicated to electronic music, DJs, and club culture. The events are geared towards celebrating nightlife communities and will take place in 12 cities including Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington D.C. Each screening is scheduled for the week of October 24 at 7 p.m., allowing attendees ample time to head to their favorite clubs afterward.
Storyline and Cast of “Club Kid”
“Club Kid” features Firstman himself in the lead role, portraying a New York City nightlife promoter whose life takes an unexpected turn when he learns that he is the father of a 10-year-old boy, played by Reggie Absolom. The film’s ensemble cast also includes notable names such as Diego Calva, Cara Delevingne, Paris Petitjen, Coleen Camp, Kirby-Howell Baptiste, Vicki Pepperdine, Nigil Whyte, Eldar Isgandarov, Saturn Risin9, Miss Benny, and Alaska Riley.
Cannes Success and Release Plans
The film made a splash at its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, receiving a standing ovation lasting six minutes. Following the strong reception, A24 secured distribution rights for $17 million after competing bids from several companies including Mubi, Focus Features, Searchlight, and Netflix, with Warner Bros.’ new indie label Clockwork and Neon also showing interest.
Jordan Firstman expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response to his work. In a recent interview with Variety’s Matt Donnelly, he shared, “It’s really been the best week of my life. It’s been beautiful seeing my mom here, my non-binary sibling who lives a very different kind of queer lifestyle. Watching people fall in love with Diego Calva. I saw a few posts [about me] saying, ‘Oh God, this is going to make him such a monster.’ But I feel the opposite of that. I don’t want to gloat. I’m just so grateful.”
Upcoming Release
“Club Kid” is set to enter limited release on November 6, promising to captivate audiences with its unique narrative and vibrant portrayal of nightlife.
