During the Steel City Comic-Con in Pittsburgh, Christopher Lambert, the renowned actor best known for his role as Connor MacLeod in the classic film “Highlander,” experienced a medical emergency. The incident occurred on Saturday while the 69-year-old was signing autographs for fans, at which point he reportedly “suddenly collapsed,” according to a witness who spoke to TMZ.
Immediate Response and Hospitalization
The situation called for immediate medical attention, and Lambert was promptly placed in an ambulance and transported to a local hospital. Following the event, the Steel City Con issued a statement indicating that Lambert “had to leave the event due to a personal issue.” As a result of the incident, his scheduled photo op was also canceled.
Health Update from Spokesperson
A representative for Lambert later informed TMZ that the actor is “perfectly ok” and now resting in his hotel room. The spokesperson explained that the actor had not gotten sufficient sleep the night before the convention and had not eaten adequately throughout the day, which led to a drop in his blood sugar levels.
Future Appearances and Previous Health Issues
As for his plans following the incident, it remains unclear whether Lambert will attend the convention on Sunday. However, sources have expressed confidence that he will be well enough to participate in his scheduled appearance at FAN EXPO in Chicago next week.
This incident is not Lambert’s first health scare; last year, he sustained a back injury after falling down a flight of stairs at his hotel, which forced him to cancel an appearance at the SciFiWorld festival in Sweden. His representatives had emphasized then that attending events and promoting his films is a top priority for Lambert, adding that he respects both the organizers and the fans when situations arise that prevent his participation.
