Chappell Roan's Midwest Initiative Supports LGBTQ+ Inclusivity

Chappell Roan, a rising star renowned for her passion and advocacy, has recently announced an inspiring initiative: The Midwest Princess Project. This new nonprofit is dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ communities, with a special focus on empowering trans youth. Driven by her commitment to effect positive change, Roan is channeling significant resources to organizations making a real difference. The launch is a significant step in advancing acceptance and support for these communities.

Supporting Trans Youth through the Midwest Princess Project

Chappell Roan shared her enthusiasm for the launch of The Midwest Princess Project, highlighting its mission to provide support to trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities. “I am so excited to announce The Midwest Princess Project,” Roan stated. “These funds will be donated to incredible organizations making a positive impact for trans youth in their communities.”

With more than $400,000 already raised through ticket sales from her Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things pop-up concerts, the initiative is off to a promising start.

Partnership with Key LGBTQ+ Organizations

The Midwest Princess Project has partnered with a variety of impactful organizations to ensure the effective distribution of funds. These collaborators include the Ali Forney Center and The LGBT Center in New York, Trans Wellness Center, TransLatin@ Coalition in Los Angeles, as well as The GLO Center and The Center Project in Missouri. Each of these groups focuses on providing essential resources and programming for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly focused on trans youth. As outlined on the official website: “These local organizations support the LGBTQ+ community and provide specific programming and resources for trans youth.”

Transparent Funding and Community Support

Roan has emphasized transparency in the donation process, particularly with proceeds from her live shows. On Instagram, she assured, “Outside of transaction fees to host the donation page and limited costs for my team to effectively manage the project, we have committed to donating every dollar possible to the organizations that need it most.” The commitment has been well-received, with The LGBT Center in New York expressing gratitude on Instagram, “We are so honored to receive this wonderful gift from such an incredible member of our community.”

Inspiring Change and Generosity

Chappell Roan’s commitment to social causes is not new. Earlier this year, she inspired fellow artists to donate to Backline, a nonprofit offering support to music industry professionals, following her Grammy Awards acceptance speech urging labels to provide better wages and healthcare. Through a $25,000 donation, she initiated the “We Got You” partnership, which artists like Charli XCX and Noah Kahan pledged to match. With The Midwest Princess Project, Roan continues to inspire others to invest in meaningful causes.

Roan’s efforts go beyond her music. At a recent sold-out show, she expressed her renewed purpose: “Last year, I was really questioning, ‘Why am I doing this to myself? … And then I started doing shows again, and it all made sense that it was to literally bring queer people joy and tell them that it’s OK.” Through The Midwest Princess Project, Chappell Roan is not just sharing her music but embodying her mission to support and uplift the LGBTQ+ communities.
