Arnold Schwarzenegger Returns in Exciting 'Predator: Badlands' Revelation

San Diego Comic-Con was electrified as Dan Trachtenberg unveiled the opening scenes of “Predator: Badlands,” alongside an alternate ending for “Predator: Killer of Killers” featuring legends Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover. Fans were treated to an exhilarating 15-minute clip, setting the stage for a thrilling journey on a remote planet. The new installment promises a fresh take on the iconic franchise, blending action and unexpected alliances in the quest for the ultimate adversary.

Dan Trachtenberg’s Comic-Con Legacy

“Predator: Badlands” director Dan Trachtenberg has deep ties to Hall H, having once been an eager fan waiting overnight to catch iconic Comic-Con moments, including the epic Avengers reveal. On Friday, he returned not as a spectator but as a creator, sharing new footage from his “Predator” series with a captivated audience.

An Epic Alternate Ending

Trachtenberg shared details on “Predator: Killer of Killers” streaming on Hulu, revealing unseen footage that expands the movie’s conclusion. The newly added scene features cameos by franchise veterans Danny Glover and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Trachtenberg spoke of collaborating with Schwarzenegger, expressing his delight at the star’s willingness to approve his cameo. This addition was set to debut on Hulu the same evening.

Introducing “Predator: Badlands”

The conversation shifted to “Predator: Badlands,” where stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, joined by effects designer Alec Gillis, discussed the film’s creation. Set on a distant planet, the story follows Dek, a young outcast Predator, who teams up with Thia, a synthetic android, on a dangerous mission. Trachtenberg aimed to depict a Predator that defies the norm, focusing on an unlikely partnership reminiscent of beloved sci-fi duos.

Behind the Scenes Challenges

Creating the film’s unique visuals was no small feat, with Schuster-Koloamatangi physically carrying Fanning on his back during production. The team navigated this practical challenge, eventually devising innovative techniques to ease the process. Fanning’s inventive suggestion to simplify the scene led to a seamless integration of storytelling and action, adding a dynamic layer to the narrative.

Expanding the Universe

Trachtenberg hinted at connections to the “Alien” franchise, teasing the presence of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. While steering clear of forced crossovers, he remains open to exploring more within this universe. The first 15 minutes of “Predator: Badlands” showcased the protagonist Dek, illustrating his growth and the challenges he faces within his clan, setting the tone for this exciting addition to the series.

The Comic-Con experience concluded with a memorable group selfie, as fans donned Yautja masks, fully immersing themselves in the “Predator” world. With a release date set for November 7, anticipation continues to build for “Predator: Badlands,” promising a groundbreaking chapter in the franchise’s history.
