In an unexpected twist at the MTV VMAs 2025, Alex Warren became the highlight of the evening, captivating audiences with a memorable and surprising confession. The Best New Artist winner, known for his hit "Carry You Home," grabbed attention not just for his accolade but for his unexpectedly candid moment during the live broadcast.
The Highly Unconventional Reaction
When Alex Warren clinched the Best New Artist title, he outshone talented contenders like The Marías, Lola Young, Gigi Perez, Emma Langley, and Sombr. In a move that took viewers by surprise, Alex shared an unusually personal detail. “I don’t even know what to say to you right now,” he revealed to Nessa, moments after his win. “I pooped twice today. I might go for a third. I’m about to cry.” The confession was as unexpected as it was genuine, instantly creating buzz around the young artist.
A Memorable Night
Despite causing what seemed to be more than just butterflies, this win marked a significant milestone for the 24-year-old musician. Amidst the lighthearted admission, Alex managed to convey his gratitude. “This is amazing. Thank you so much!” he expressed, clearly overwhelmed by the honor. His genuine excitement and humility struck a chord with fans and fellow artists alike, solidifying his place in the industry.
From “Ordinary” to Extraordinary
Alex Warren’s journey to this point has been anything but ordinary. His song “Ordinary” dominated the Billboard Hot 100 chart, reigning for an impressive 14 weeks. Despite its success, Alex didn’t consider it a guaranteed ticket to victory. Just days before the MTV VMAs, he humorously posted a video using the viral “fish girl” sound effect, humorously acknowledging the uncertainty of the outcome: “I know I’m going to be out, just vote.”
The Impact of Authenticity
Alex Warren’s TMI confession at the MTV VMAs 2025 was more than just a quirky moment; it showcased his authentic and relatable personality. This honesty, paired with his musical talent, continues to endear him to audiences worldwide. As he progresses in his career, this genuine nature will likely be a driving force behind his enduring success.
