$30 Million Boost: HarbourView Invests in 'Iyanu' Creator Lion Forge

HarbourView Equity Partners has made a significant move in the world of entertainment by leading a $30 million investment in Lion Forge Entertainment. This strategic funding aims to bolster Lion Forge’s efforts in producing engaging content for children and families. Known for its animated series “Iyanu” on HBO Max/Cartoon Network, Lion Forge is gaining momentum with this financial backing. HarbourView Equity Partners, under the leadership of Sherrese Clarke, sees immense potential in Lion Forge’s content-driven approach to building authentic and culturally relevant franchises.

Expanding Horizons with New Funding

The investment marks a pivotal moment for Lion Forge Entertainment as the company seeks to expand its content production capabilities. Based in Los Angeles and led by CEO David Steward II, Lion Forge has established itself as a key player in family entertainment. Steward’s family office and investment firm, Polarity, participated in this fundraising round, ensuring their continued majority ownership alongside HarbourView Equity Partners.

“We believe that content has the extraordinary power to influence the world,” stated HarbourView CEO Sherrese Clarke. She further emphasized the opportunity for Lion Forge to develop global franchises that reflect cultural authenticity and social relevance, aligning with HarbourView’s vision for the future of media.

A Strategic Partnership for Growth

The alliance between HarbourView Equity Partners and Lion Forge is set to propel the company into new realms of success. “Sherrese is a trailblazing investor, leading a culture-driving company,” said Steward. He expressed confidence in the potential synergies between HarbourView’s strategic investment approach and Lion Forge’s franchise-building expertise. This partnership will harness opportunities at the crossroads of entertainment, culture, and content.

HarbourView’s involvement in Lion Forge aligns with their mission to invest in high-end productions targeting underrepresented audiences. The collaboration promises to expand the reach and impact of Lion Forge’s creative ventures.

Wider Implications and Future Endeavors

HarbourView Equity Partners continues to solidify its position in the media landscape, with recent transactions including an $85 million investment in Animaj, a French media company specializing in kids and family entertainment. Additional collaborations include a partnership with Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios for a series of hip-hop biopics.

Meanwhile, Lion Forge Entertainment is not resting on its laurels. The company maintains a first-look deal with Paramount’s Nickelodeon and is developing a Bob Marley & The Family Band series with the Bob Marley Estate. Additionally, Lion Forge partners with Penguin Young Readers to create series and features, following the success of their Oscar-winning short film “Hair Love.”

HarbourView recently secured $500 million in debt financing from KKR, bolstered by substantial music publishing assets. Since 2021, they have acquired over 70 music catalogs. Participant Capital facilitated the Lion Forge investment, with representation from Activist Artists Management.
