In a remarkable debut, the new thriller film “The Last House,” featuring performances by Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, has attracted a staggering 27.5 million views within its first three days on Netflix. This overwhelming viewer response propelled the film to the top of Netflix’s viewership rankings for the week of August 3-9, making it not only the most-watched English-language film but also the overall leader in viewership.
Competition in the Viewership Rankings
Following closely behind “The Last House” is Kevin Hart’s comedy film “72 Hours,” which garnered 11.1 million views during its third week of release. The rankings also included the two “Spider-Man” films, “Spider-Man: Far from Home” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” both of which received a significant boost in viewership likely related to the theatrical release of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” on July 31.
Top Titles in Television
On the television front, “The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare” maintained its position as the top title for the second consecutive week, accumulating 10.6 million views after debuting with an impressive 18.2 million views the previous week. The new season of “My Life With the Walter Boys” ranked right behind it, attracting 9 million views within its first four days. Additionally, “The Bombing of Pan Am 103” held steady in third place for the second week running.
