Longtime music booker Brian Siedlecki is set to depart from Saturday Night Live following nearly three decades with the show. Multiple sources have confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Siedlecki’s contract will not be renewed.
Decades of Influence in Music Booking
Since joining as an intern in 1996, Siedlecki has played a pivotal role in securing music talent for the iconic program. His efforts have ensured that SNL remains a significant platform for artists, serving as a critical stop for those promoting new records and helping launch the careers of many emerging stars.
A Legacy of Star Bookings
Throughout his tenure, Siedlecki has booked countless musical legends. His first booking, Nelly Furtado in 2001, marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. The roster of artists who have graced SNL during his time includes a diverse array of talents, from classic icons like Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen to contemporary favorites such as Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Olivia Rodrigo.
The Future of SNL’s Music Booking Team
Although Siedlecki is leaving, two other longstanding bookers, Keri Powers and Rebecca Schwartz, remain with the show. Powers has been part of the team since 2014, while Schwartz has been with SNL since 2015. NBC, when approached for comment, stated that “the network doesn’t comment on staffing.”
Upcoming Changes as SNL Prepares for Season 52
The announcement of Siedlecki’s departure comes just over a month before SNL returns for its 52nd season on September 26. Another notable exit ahead of the new season was that of Chloe Fineman, who shared her thoughts on leaving after seven seasons. “Seven years is kind of like the classic way [at SNL], and then like right as my contract was up, this amazing David E. Kelley opportunity came in like completely out of the blue,” she told THR at the premiere of The Dink in July. “I’m really proud of everything, but it’s hard. I’m genuinely really good friends with everybody, and I genuinely couldn’t love that job more. So it’s really bittersweet, but I’m gonna be in New York. I’m down the street. Maybe you’ll see me.”
