Kyra Green and Cashel Barnett’s romantic saga has been a rollercoaster ride since they made waves on the U.S. version of Love Island. Their relationship, marked by surprising choices and unexpected reunions, ultimately faced significant challenges that led to their split.
A Surprising Beginning and Troubles Ahead
Kicking off their journey, Kyra made the bold decision to leave the show during its inaugural season in search of a connection with Cashel, whom she had sent home. To her surprise, she discovered he had already returned. This dramatic twist captivated viewers, but the duo’s relationship took a downturn when they officially split in October 2019.
Reconciliation and Finality
By late November, the couple had reconciled, reigniting hope among fans. However, this revival was short-lived, as Kyra and Cashel ended their relationship for good in February 2020. “We had a good go,” Cashel reflected on the #NoFilter podcast. “I think we’re just in different places in our lives… I think she blocked my number, to be honest.”
Life After Love Island
After her time on Love Island, Kyra expanded her television presence, featuring in shows such as Match Me If You Can in 2021, The Challenge: USA in 2022, and Love Island Games in 2023. In a twist of fate, she ultimately found lasting love off-screen with dental student and former basketball player Tal Sahar in 2024.
Cashel’s Legal Troubles
In May 2025, Cashel faced serious legal issues when he was jailed in Utah on charges of domestic violence and assault, according to online records. The following month, he was hit with additional charges stemming from similar allegations.
In light of these developments, Cashel denied the accusations through his attorney, Andrew K. Deesing, who stated to NBC News, “My client and his family are enduring an incredibly difficult time, and we hope that his privacy will be respected as we work diligently to defend his name and reputation. Obviously, we’re in the very early stages of this and don’t have any further comment at this time.”
