In a candid reflection on her time during the iconic “Twilight” series, Kristen Stewart opened up about her experiences, dubbing herself a “pretentious little loser” while making the films. Her remarks hint at the pressures and challenges that come with being a part of such a blockbuster franchise.
Nikki Reed’s Hair Transformation Troubles
One significant challenge faced by Reed was the toll that dyeing her hair blonde took on her health. Portraying Rosalie Cullen required extreme measures, as she revealed, “My hair fell out.” After the arduous process of turning her hair blonde, which took an extensive 36 hours, Reed opted for a wig to shield her hair from further damage during the subsequent films in the series. “Every other day, I was bleaching my head and my skin,” she explained, marking the shift to using wigs for the remainder of her role.
Kristen Stewart’s Wig Woes
Similarly, Kristen Stewart faced her own hair dilemmas while transitioning between roles. After cutting her hair for her portrayal of Joan Jett in The Runaways, she had to wear a wig in Eclipse. This choice sparked quite a bit of discussion among fans and critics alike. As she approached the filming of Breaking Dawn: Part 1, Stewart reassured her audience that she would be utilizing her natural hair, even while recalling the reluctance of Summit Entertainment regarding her haircut.
“They’re going to hate me for this, but they offered me lots of ridiculous… many ridiculous things to not do that,” Stewart shared with George Lopez in 2010. Understanding their concerns, she expressed a desire for a better-quality wig. Ultimately, Stewart concluded, “we worked it out, and hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, it’s OK now,” indicating a sense of relief as she navigated the challenges of her evolving hairstyles throughout the franchise.
